Anaerobic Food Waste Digester Project Initial Study

Humboldt Waste Management Authority Anaerobic Food Waste Digester Project Initial Study

As part of the Humboldt Waste Management Authority’s Food Waste to Energy project, Ourevolution engineers provided environmental permitting and technical consulting services which led to the successful completion of the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) Initial Study which is the first step in permitting this cutting edge project.

OE developed the initial site layout, and technical descriptions for the configuration and operation of this food waste digester project that will utilize food waste in an anaerobic digester to generate methane which will be used in internal combustion engines to generate electricity. This project is one of only a handful of food waste digester to energy projects located in the United States and OE is proud to be on the team. The project recently won an Environmental Protection Agency “Showcase Communities” grant to continue with the permitting and initial design phases.
